Marina Bollaín


Marina Bollaín has a degree in Singing and Opera Stage Direction from the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin and in German Philology from the Complutense University of Madrid. At UCM she is also doing a Master's in Performing Arts and the Pedagogical Aptitude Course (C.A.P). She has been a scholarship holder of the Academy of Spain in Rome in the specialty of Performing Arts. In 1993 she moved to live in Berlin where she lived for 11 years. In Germany, she translates, adapts and stage directs the zarzuela La Verbena de la Paloma for the Hebbel Theater in Berlin; this production was later premiered at the 1st San Lorenzo del Escorial Summer Festival, at the Teatros del Canal in Madrid and at the Campoamor Theater in Oviedo. She creates and directs the zarzuela show Adiós Julián that premieres at the Kulturbrauerei in Berlin, at the San Lorenzo del Escorial Auditorium and in various Spanish theaters. She is the author of the libretto and stage direction of the opera Cuerpos Inhabitados with music by José María Sánchez Verdú, premiered at the Sophien Saele in Berlin as part of the Ultraschall Contemporary Music Festival. This show is invited to tour Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Peru and Costa Rica as part of the AECID Cultural Cooperation program. He translates, adapts and stage directs Brecht's La opera de tres péniques for the Teatros del Canal in Madrid and performs the theatrical adaptation and stage direction of La Regenta (based on the homonymous novel by Leopoldo Alas Clarín) which premieres in Avilés and It is presented in various Spanish theaters including the Teatros del Canal in Madrid, the Arriaga Theater in Bilbao, the Jovellanos Theater in Gijón or the Lope de Vega in Seville. She is also the author and director of the show Hárragas about Moroccan immigration and she creates and performs the children's musical shows El Duende Calcetín, La Gallina Submarina and Historia de Yuco.

She has sung as a guest artist in different German theaters such as the Leipzig Opera, the Berlin Comic Opera or the Volkstheater Rostock. For six years he has been a member of the Yehudi-Menuhin Stifftung association in Berlin, for which he performs numerous concerts mainly of Spanish music for singing and piano and singing and guitar and has recorded three compact discs of Spanish music with songs by Federico García Lorca, Fernando Sor and Enrique Granados. She has given numerous concerts for Spanish delegations abroad all over the world.

She has worked as an actress in different film and television productions in Madrid and Seville (Best Actress Award at the Gijón Film Festival in 1992). She has been the assistant director of Albert Boadella in the opening show of the Teatros del Canal Una noche en el Canal.

She teaches the subject of Lyrical Scene at the Conservatory of Music of the Basque Country (Musikene) and since 2011 she has been a teacher at the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid specializing in Body Technique.
