Sambuseck

Sambuseck is a theater company directed by Sergio Calvo and Nacho De Santis, created together with Malena Schnitzer, Mariana Eramo and Elisa Bressán in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The company began in 2007 as a meeting point for artists with the purpose of producing a unique stage language from a collectively created work on literary works by writers from the American continent. Its productions, carried out jointly by all the members of the company, address a reflection on the place that the written word occupies in the scenic space. Where does the theatricality of a text reside? What is the semantic field of a movement? How to stage a literary resource? What are the links between the work of a writer and the bodies of those who reread it? ?, can music become a narrative gesture? And even more: how to make a poetic atmosphere corporeal? The creative process of his shows implies a simultaneous construction of the dramatic text and its production: the staging is nourished by the dramaturgy and feeds it at the same time; in such a way that the scenery, music, lighting, costumes, work in their shows as narrative nuclei, and the performance is located there as a nodal point. Under these premises, Sambuseck's works present simple stories, whose complexity is given, on the one hand, through the way they are narrated –scenes always interrupted by new expressive dynamics, with choreographic movements, where music and lighting operate. as rhythmic platforms-; and on the other, through the emotional journey of its characters. This tension between the image and the content leads the public away from a possible intellectualization of the pieces and leads them, instead, to a sensory understanding of the material.
Since February 2022 Sergio Calvo and Nacho De Santis travel to Madrid to stage "Impalpable" with a new cast of Argentine actresses in Spain, and Rodrigo Martínez Frau joins the company as resident director in charge of directing assistance for the work in Spain.
