40 years and resists...
La Tartana turns 40 in 2017, and we want to celebrate it.
To the recent joy of having received the ASSITEJ NATIONAL CHILDREN'S THEATER AWARD, as artisans from the world of theater, and especially from the world of puppetry, we want to celebrate it by showing the work with which we have toured Spain and abroad.
We believe that it is also important to recognize the work of a company with unquestionable artistic value, which has obtained multiple awards and recognitions for its work, and which has always been involved in the transformation that the theater world has undergone since La Transición.
We cannot forget the value that it had in the late 70s, the Street Festival, the presentation of the Odín Teatre and, later, the creation of the Pradillo Theater.
La Tartana has been a company, not only concerned with its artistic work, but has also paid special attention to the social value of theater, as well as collaborating with and helping other companies and creators.
We were, from the beginning, creating work teams that made him question the development of theater and its different techniques, looking for another way of doing things and, above all, that continuous preparation; Investigating as creators that we are, what we could contribute to the development of our activity, to the art of the puppet and, therefore, to the Art of Theater.
Hence, La Tartana has worked on shows by both classical and contemporary authors, operas, children's theater, street theater. No one can deny that it has always been at the forefront in the search for new forms of expression for its development.
For all this, we think that celebrating our anniversary is and should be prestigious both for the institutions that host it and for the Spanish cultural world.
LA TARTANA 40TH ANNIVERSARY ACTIVITIES – 2017
FOURTH WALL (MADRID)
The Cuarta Pared room begins its activities around the 40th Anniversary of La Tartana with a retrospective of his latest works:
- Sunday, January 8, 5:30 p.m.: “The Guardian of Stories”
- Sunday, January 15, 5:30 p.m.: “Hansel and Gretel”
- Sunday, January 22, 5:30 p.m.: “The dream of the little warrior”
- Sunday, January 29, 5:30 p.m.: “Dreamcatcher”
MADFERIA, THEATER FAIR (MADRID)
At the Madrid Fair (Madferia) the 40th Anniversary will be celebrated with an action performance at the opening ceremony of the fair that will take place on January 17.
It is also planned to screen the Documentary of the trajectory of La Tartana on Wednesday, January 18 at 12 noon in the Sala Borau, Matadero.
NATIONAL DRAMA CENTER – CDN (MADRID)
The CDN will host the anniversary of La Tartana on January 30 at 8:00 p.m., in the Nieva Hall of the Valle-Inclán Theater (CDN), within the MONDAY WITH VOICE cycle, and a round table will be held with several representative figures of our theater: Ernesto Caballero, Toni Rumbau, Idoia Otegui, Fernando Cerón and Juan Muñoz, in which there will be a retrospective of the evolution of puppet theater from the beginning of democracy until now, in relation to the 40-year history of this emblematic puppet theater company.
FETEN, CHILDREN'S THEATER FAIR (GIJÓN)
On Tuesday, February 14, the new show of the company "EL RINCÓN DE LOS TÍTERES" will premiere in Room 2B of the Old Institute (10am, 4:30pm and 6:30pm) within the Feten Children's Theater Fair, in Gijón.
There will also be a projection of the Documentary of the 40 years of the company, and an Exhibition with the most emblematic puppets of its history.
BERLANGA ROOM OF THE SGAE (MADRID)
The SGAE will dedicate a film and puppet series to La Tartana from February 23 to March 2. For a week there will be a thematic cycle where each day will be dedicated to a puppet art technique. Each day will feature a film and a sample from a company or expert in the field.
The "Exhibition of puppets and automata" of La Tartana will also take place from February 23 for 3 weeks.
