THE TRIP OF ISABELA DE LA TARTANA UNANIMOUSLY WINS THE XI INTERNATIONAL BAROQUE CONTEST FOR CHILDREN AT THE ALMAGRO FESTIVAL

The show El viaje de Isabela, by the Madrid company La Tartana, has unanimously won the XI International Children's Baroque Contest. It is a work of puppets and actors with live music that tells a story of love and adventures with humor and simplicity.
 
Ignacio García, director of the International Festival of Classical Theater of Almagro, explains: "The jury of the International Baroque Children's Contest of this XI edition met yesterday, July 7, and made the decision to award the Prize unanimously to the work El viaje de Isabela, with dramaturgy and direction by Juan Muñoz and Inés Maroto, based on the novel La española inglesa, by Miguel de Cervantes.The jury has highlighted the great skill and magnificent work of the puppet handlers, the careful live music in constant relationship with theatrical action and dramaturgy that achieves in a clear and effective way to bring Cervantes's text closer to a wide range of audiences.
 
The jury is made up of the girls Irene Ruiz Morales and Valeria Ramos Fernández, the boy David Fúnez Villaverde, the professor at the Faculty of Education of the University of Castilla La-Mancha, Alberto Gutiérrez Gil, and the programming coordinator of the Almagro Festival. , Teresa Perez-Prat.

 

Isabela's journey will be performed this Sunday, July 10, at the Municipal Theater at 8:00 p.m. Its directors, Juan Muñoz and Inés Maroto, approach the piece like this: "The work tells the story of Isabela, her fortunes and travels, until her meeting with Ricaredo, her young lover who travels half the world in search of her. Ships, storms, treasures, magical unicorns, a convent, castles, sword fights, kings and palaces, poisoning and battles on horseback are the ingredients of this fast-paced and fun work, a free version of one of the exemplary novels of our most universal writer" .
 
And this is what the boy Alonso said when he saw 'El viaje de Isabela': "Love is stronger than beauty and feelings are more important than having pretty hair."
