Luis d’Ors’ new creation, Sleepless nights/ Candlelit Nights*** is yet to be performed for the first time: magical theatre nights that form a series of performances based on some of the best tales from world literature, written by some of its most relevant authors. Its aim is to use theatre to bring great literature to a wider audience. The complete series is formed by 10 stories that will be performed from September to June, one story each month. All tales are opened to program combinations.

The series brings together several international authors from XIXth, XXth century and contemporary writing, including writers as significant as Chekhov, Kafka, Cortázar or Murakami. More than storytelling it is a staged dramatisation of each tale. The title comes from the tales that express what Borges calls “the slight crepuscular, or lunar, world of the fantastic imaginations.” The reason for its triumphant return to actuality is due to the representation of the individual inner being and the collective symbolism. Each writer’s tale will be performed by some of the best actors from the Spanish theatre scene and directed by Luis d’Ors. The thoughtful, but simple, mise-en-scènes will recreate the world of the story and propitiate the enjoyment of the spoken word.
