FIRST MADRID PERFORMANCE OF ESTER BELLVER’S NEW PIECE

After “Staragony”, recommended by the Theatre National Network, performed both at independent theatres and at the National Drama Centre, “All for one” is Esther Bellver’s new creation. She surprises us with a new show devoted to her master and friend, Agustín García Calvo.

It opened in Palencia on the 16 June, it ran in July in Barcelona and we will enjoy it in Madrid this autumn: every Sunday of October and November at 20:30. Sala Triángulo, Madrid.

From the solitude of a solo voice on stage, Esther Bellver gives life to characters that, until now, have been sleeping in the pages of books, waiting for someone to bring them to life on stage. Oneself, the one who is not only one , things, souvenirs, love, time passing, death, estrangement, lost…, they speak on stage through a selection of different texts (poems, dramatic scenes, tales, romances…) from Agustín García Calvo’s work, chosen and performed by Ester Bellver. In the performance we jump from prose to poetry and from song and romance to drama. Everything is born from Ester Bellver’s love for the work of this author she so much admires. She wants to bring his work to a wider audience.
Agustín García Calvo has won the National Dramatic Literature Award 1990, the National Theatre award 1999 and the National Translation Award 2006. He has written a huge amount of dramatic work, from which only one, “Don Pedro’s deck of cards” has been performed (National Theatre Award 2000) at the Abadía Theatre.
With lighting design by the award-winning Juan Gómez Cornejo, the simple staging gives us the chance to get immersed in some moving stories, performed by Ester Bellver.

To quote the actress “A single voice can condense many; one hour of theatre can be a time full of lives”.
